• Good morning, Springfield High! Today is Monday, March 30th

  • Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays the  Peace Room is  open and available to students for support in the Guidance Office-8:30-9am and 11:30-2pm.  

  • Tutoring is available for all students.  Normal tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays continues from 3:30-4:30 in room 160.  In addition, tutoring is also now available on Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 in room 114.

  • Senators show responsibility by honoring the commitments they make, to both themselves and others.  Be responsible by doing your share of the group project,  participating in club meetings and activities, and going to practice even when you are tired.  When you follow through on your commitments, people will find you to be not only responsible, but both trustworthy and reliable as well.   • SENIORS - April 9th is the test day where you are not here in the building. On April 9th, LLCC is hosting tours for prospective students - you can attend the 10am tour or the 1pm tour. If you have questions or need support after the tour, LLCC reps will help you! Check out these links to RSVP:

  • The digital ACT and PreACT will be administered at SHS on Thursday, April 9th. All 9th, 10th and 11th graders will test. Freshmen and sophomores take the PreACT and juniors are required to take the ACT. Seniors who did not take the ACT last year are required to test on April 9th as well. Completion of the school day ACT is required for graduation.

All 9th, 10th and 11th graders can turn in a signed, parent permission form to be dismissed directly after the test. Any student can stay for lunch or for the duration of the day and be dismissed at 3:17 p.m. Buses will run on the 3:17 p.m. dismissal time. 

Seniors who have already taken the ACT may participate in the Senior Service Day on April 9th if the signed permission form is returned to the Guidance Office before April 3rd at 3:30 p.m. Additionally, these seniors, who are not required to test will be dismissed at 1:50 p.m. on April 8th (see form for details).

  • The Springfield Public Schools’ Board of Education invites interested incoming high school seniors (current juniors)  to apply to become the 2026-2027 Student Representative to the Board of Education. One incoming senior will be chosen to serve as the Student Representative during the upcoming school year. Additional information and the application can be found at: https://forms.gle/Kh1aKBbeoE7gvwXi8. The submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026.  

  • Springfield Clinic is hosting an open house for high school students who are interested in learning about careers in the health care field. Students are invited to the Springfield Clinic 1st Building at 800 North 1st Street on Wednesday, April 29th from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. You can tour the building, visit with different departments, and engage in hand-on activities.   • Volleyball workouts after school on Tuesday & Thursday this week

  • Saturday Robotics competed in the St. Louis Regional Robotics Competition at St. Louis University, going head-to-head with 41 teams from Illinois, Missouri, Indiana,Australia, and China. The team placed 4th in the team events and 15th individually. Thank you  everyone for the support!

  • The boys track and field team concluded the indoor season at the Illinois Top Times Invitational which serves as the unofficial indoor state meet. The team qualified 3 relays to the meet.  The 4x200 relay team of Declan Brown, Kale Thurman, DeAnthony Brown and Jamel Battie finished in 14th place.  The 4x400 relay team of DeAnthony Brown, Deandre Brown, Jacob Greco, and Mekhi Newman finished in 5th place; and the 4x800 relay team of Farhan Faizal, Jake Tolsdorf, Clayton Borah and Jordan Green finished 2nd.  The. Boys next compete at home on Saturday at the SHS Open at Lanphier. 

  • The baseball team dealt with a tough one on Saturday where very little went right in a 23 to 1 loss to Champaign Central. Despite their struggles, some bright spots still stood out. Jackson Jenkins led off the game with the Senators’ lone hit, while Brody Scheffler combined with Carter Magalis on a double steal to give the Solons a 1 to nothing lead in the 2nd before the roof fell in on their efforts. The good guys will look to turn things around in a 4:30 contest in Jacksonville tomorrow in CS8 play against the Crimsons.

  • The Springfield High School Boys Tennis Team competed in the Sacred Heart-Griffin Central Illinois Invitational this past weekend and captured several victories. In singles, Bennett Nelson finished fourth, while Ian Delcomyn also contributed with two victories.  In doubles, the teams of Jai Khurana/Shrihan Aleti, Faaiz Qureshi/Quan Dickirson and Anshul Nagrecha/Ben Perry all emerged with victories toward the overall team record.

  • Congrats to sophomore Natasha O’Brien, who earned a National Silver Medal in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her drawing, Antecedence. To put this award into perspective, over 300,000 works are submitted nationwide, and her piece placed among the top 1% in the country! We’re extremely proud of Natasha and the work she’s put in to reach this level.

  • Springfield High School would like to recognize our student artists for their success in the Old Capitol Art Fair Poster Contest.

SHS earned 3 of the 6 total awards, including:

  • 1st Place – Charlotte Ratz (Her artwork will be on posters around town advertising the event)

  • 2nd Place – Natasha O’Brien

  • Honorable Mention – Adeline Hetzler

That’s half of all awards given, an incredible accomplishment!
